Yoga for bumps, birth and baby

Welcome to Yoga Place Abertawe where we are dedicated to all things bumps and babies! Here we will take you through your pregnancy and prepare you for the birth of your child and into your postnatal recovery, with Yoga, Pregnancy Massage, Birthing Hypnosis and then Postnatal & Baby Yoga.

Did you know… women who have practiced yoga or incorporated pregnancy related practices during labour tend to:

  • Instinctively take care of their backs
  • Be more mobile during contractions
  • Are able to stand for longer periods helping the dilation of the cervix
  • Have more strength and stamina to manage labour

Also, the natural tendency during labour is to find a dark place to retreat to, which is not always possible in a hospital environment however, yoga & hypnotherapy helps you to take yourself into a safe place internally, focusing on breath and using visualisation.  This is why we recommend that you come to Pregnancy classes and Birthing Hypnosis so you are equipped with the natural tools you have to birth your baby!

In our busy lives we give you that time to stop, and simply be with your child, a time to bond and connect, as you also manage the changes of your amazing body as your baby develops.  Discover a way to feel physically, mentally and emotionally supported by our team and the group of amazing students you share your classes with or meet on the way here.

And while you journey through your pregnancy, a massage that is not just safe for you, but specifically aimed at targeting those niggles and discomforts to prevent further pain to support you through each trimester can be a god send… and make being pregnant all that more easeful.

You are welcome to join any of the Pregnancy Classes from 12 weeks, before then REST, BREATHE, PUT YOUR FEET UP as you are creating a life and growing an extra organ (the placenta) during this time so you want to take it easy! You can then look forward to starting your practice once you are in your second trimester.

New mums are welcome to join Mum & Baby Yoga as and when you are ready, we will never turn you away, not even if you rock up in your pjs! We will look after you and make sure you get a bit of TLC too!

Which Pregnancy Class?

Below you will find detailed information on which class is suitable for you. We do not take students until they are past the 12 week period and you can continue to come to class right up to having your baby! All the classes are run as drop ins, so we do not take bookings and you can come to classes as and when you are able. We hope you enjoy!

Pregnancy Yoga

  • Tuesday and Thursday mornings 10am to 11.15am Open to all levels
  • Tuesday early evenings 5.15pm to 6.30pm! Open to all levels
  • Wednesday evenings 6.30pm to 7.45pm Open to all levels
  • Saturday mornings 9am to 10.15am Open to all levels

Yoga suitable for Postnatal students

  • Saturday mornings 10.30am to Noon, Flow & Restore. Open to all levels from 6 weeks postpartum

All our pregnancy Yoga classes are open to any students who are over 12 weeks pregnant and can continue coming until their babies are born! You do not need any previous yoga experience for these classes!

All classes are £12.50 (except for the Tuesday & Thursday 10am classes, which are £10) You can prepay for 6, 10 or 20 classes to reduce the prices, please see Class Schedule & Prices for further information!

We do not take bookings for classes, but do ask that you arrive at least 10 t0 15 minutes before the class starts. Late comers will not be able to join the class for health & safety reasons.

As well as Yoga for pregnancy, we also offer Hypnobirthing, Postnatal Yoga, Mum & Baby Yoga classes as we well as Pregnancy Massage! Everything you need to take you through your pregnancy and into being a new mum!
