Welcome to our classes and teachers, where we endeavour to offer a class suitable for every one, no matter what you age, experience, flexibility or needs.  We have Yoga for bumps, babies & children, for those who need to relax and destress. Yoga for strength & stamina, for runners, cyclists, climbers and all you sporty ones, for total beginners and those who have been doing it for years. Practices that are gentle and supportive and classes for our over 50’s who want to enjoy a safe and fun class, with biscuits.

So how do you chose your class and find a level that is appropriate to you?  As a new student to yoga we suggest exploring the different classes and teachers so that you can get a feel of which style you enjoy most. Some of our classes are titled specifically to show you what they entail, while some classes are called by their traditional names.  New students to Yoga should start with Level 1, or an All Levels class but all our teachers are able to accommodate beginners to intermediate levels in all their classes.

WE DO NOT TAKE BOOKINGS FOR CLASSES… So you do not have to commit in advance, just come on the day to your chosen class though we do suggest arriving about 15 minutes before the class is due to start.

  • Hatha with Beci
    • Mondays, 10.15am to 11.30am

      Beci

      Beci has been a yoga practitioner for over 25 years and a qualified British Wheel of Yoga teacher for 15 years. She teaches with warmth, authenticity and kindness; supporting you to bring balance, centredness and deep nourishment to your life.

      Yoga with Beci provides space for you to develop courage, strength and patience. Whilst the yoga dissolves tension, releases stress, boosts the immune system and relieves back ache.

  • Family Yoga with Emma
    • Saturdays, monthly, 11.30am to 12.3pm

      Emma

      Family Yoga with Emma is an opportunity for families to share and explore a fun Yoga practice. Family Yoga will encourage families to take time out together to have fun, relax and re-connect. Classes will include breathing exercises, physical but gentle yoga poses, and relaxation in a family-friendly, all-inclusive environment. The classes will include some partner and group interaction helping children to develop personal and interpersonal communication skills also encouraging the development of body awareness.

      Family Yoga encourages children to be creative and fearless in the moment The lessons are playful often based around a story or theme with Plenty of Laughter! Yoga supports children to strengthen and relax their muscles, develop co-ordination, focus and confidence in a nurturing, non-competitive safe place…Yoga Place Abertawe!!!.

  • Hatha Flow with Ruth
    • Tuesday & Thursday 9.15am to 1o.30am & Thursdays 6pm

      Ruth Howell

      I am a British Wheel of Yoga Diploma qualified teacher who has been qualified and teaching for twenty years. I continue to study Yoga and attend as many workshops as I can for my own personal development. I have taught a wide variety of people at different venues over the years.

      I teach Hatha and Hatha Flow Yoga and I endeavour to work at a pace that the majority of the class are comfortable with. So, my class will change slightly as to the ability of those present. As well as the physical, I am extremely interested in the mental wellbeing of my class.

      Relaxation plays a vital part in all my sessions. I am particularly interested in working with people who suffer with stress and anxiety since Yoga has helped me with my own day to day living. I attempt to make my classes non-competitive and open to everyone from all sections of the community. Yoga to me is not a sport or an elite activity but something which should be a part of our daily life away from the Yoga mat.

  • Beginners, Dynamic & Gentle Classes with Lisa

      Lisa White

      Lisa’s classes combines active postures & vinyasa flow with restorative yoga, creating an energizing and nourishing balance for body, heart & mind. The dynamic and fluid practices will heat the body and build strength, endurance and flexibility. The quiet, restorative posture will help relax the muscles, tissues, organs and nervous system… encouraging a release of deeply held tension while replenishing energy. Helps to decrease negative stress and encourages healthy recovery for post-natal and injury or illness.

      Open to all levels. This is also a lovely practice to proceed the Yin & Meditation, so why not try both!

       

  • Kundalini Yoga – Jackie Dorrian

      Jackie Dorrian

      Kundalini Yoga is an ancient technology precisely and consciously combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purify the blood. It brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.

      Jackie Dorrian is fulfilled in pursing her passion full time, teaching, mentoring, and providing for others Yoga, Healing, Ayurveda, Massage, Meditation, and Reiki in which she is now a qualified Master. Fully qualified and experienced, with well-honed skills, Jackie is in the ideal position to help others to find the best and the most positive sense of themselves, having a strong sense of her personal Dharma (purpose in life). Jackie’s practice is seamlessly connected through, yoga, meditation and healing – each of these modalities blending and influencing one another.

      Being good to your self and looking after your self, are two key ingredients for making us who we are, yoga can help keep us grounded, help to guide us, it also helps quieten the mind and most of all shows us compassion.

  • Yoga with Stephen
    • Monday 7.30pm to 8.45pm

      Stephen Buss

      Stephen has been teaching Hatha Yoga to all levels for 10 years. Since 2010 he has been training teachers and co-organising yoga retreats. Stephen’s teaching is Iyengar-based.

      He was introduced to yoga as a way of life by his first teacher, his mother, who continues to inspire his yoga journey.  Stephen regularly visits India to train in yoga and Kalaripayattu, a South Indian martial art.  His teaching emphasises the importance of breath in dynamic alignment. Stephen is a qualified Osteopath and Thai Massage therapist. He teaches technique and clinical skills on the Osteopathy M.Ost program at Swansea University.

      Stephen’s general yoga class allows each person to control the level of effort that they want to exert. As a general class, it uses classic yoga postures to help stretch tight muscles and help strengthen weaker muscles. Breathing and concentration are entwined to help each person gain an awareness of where they hold their tension and how to release it. This is a yoga class to suit all levels.

      His class will guide you through exercises of mind, body and breath – learning to integrate them effectively can help prevent and manage stress of the mind and body. Attending regular Yoga classes at any stage of life and enjoying the benefits of your practice with friends and family can greatly improve your health and wellbeing.

  • Pregnancy Yoga with Lisa White
    • Wednesday 6pm to 7.15pm, Friday 9.15am to 10.30am

      Lisa White

      This class is suitable from 12 weeks to term and welcomes all pregnant students from complete beginners to practiced yoginis. Breath and modified yoga asanas (poses) are taught in sequences to ease mums-to-be through pregnancy and labour. Postures are taught to relieve some pregnancy discomforts from sciatica to heartburn, create strength and flexibility, while encouraging the gentle opening of the pelvis with postures to birth your baby. Very simple breathing techniques are used to relax both body and mind throughout pregnancy and as a practice to lead you though your labour from first contaction. Each class is finished with a Yoga Nidra, which is a deep relaxation to help you really let go an enjoy the changes to your body as you grow with your baby and get a bit of rest!!!

      Lisa has been teaching Perenatal Yoga for 11 years, is the director of both Yoga Place Abertawe (Wales) and Yoga Place E2 (London) studios. She is also a teacher trainer for Yoga Campus where she co teaches with her teacher Uma Dinsmore-Tuli the Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training Intensive, and the Pregnancy Integration Module for the 200 hrs, Teacher Training. Her teaching comes from the more therapeutic forms having worked with Judith Hanson Lasater, Mukunda Stiles and continuing to assist and train with Tias Little. Her focus is on the use of breath and flowing movement working deeply within the body and sharing her passion for Yoga Nidra.

  • Mum & Baby Yoga with Lisa White
    • Friday 11am-12.15am

      This is a fun class for mums and babies! You can some along any time from 6 weeks after the baby’s birth if you had a vaginal labour or 8 weeks c-section, or when you and baby are ready to join. This class is a mix of spending bonding time with your babies over song and yoga postures for both of you. After a brief intro at the beginning of class, we then create a class around any particular issues, usually targeting areas such as pelvic floor strengthening, relaxing shoulders and necks, lower backs, wrists and lots of twists for the tummy, as wells as providing ease to colic, constipation, teething etc for baby! We are even brave enough to attempt and mum and baby relaxation! some times it works beautifully and everyone gets to enjoy 15 minutes of quiet time, other times it is complete bedlam, but we have a lot of fun and at the end you can enjoy a well earned tea and cake over baby chat with other new mums in the class.

  • Fab and Over 50 with Lisa White
    • Wednesday 4.30pm to 5.3opm

      Lisa White

      A gentle but fun, restorative and relaxing class for older yogis focusing of keeping the joints mobile and hydrated… This class is open to ladies, gents and anyone who feels their joins need a bit of an oiling, and it is all topped off with a deeply indulgent relaxation, Tea & Cake!!!

      Lisa has been teaching over 50s Yoga for 10 years in London at Yoga Place E2.

      £5 – This class is open those over 50!

Class Levels

What is important is the level of class you chose. Please only come to class that is suitable to your level and always let the teacher know before the class starts if you have any injuries or heath issues that may have an impact on your practice.

  • Level 1 – complete beginners and those with under a years practice. Please let the teacher know you are new to the class
  • Level 2 – for students with a year or more of regular practice
  • Level 3 – for students with a strong regular practice
  • All Levels – Open to all students of all levels. Please let the teacher know if you are a beginner
