Monday-Thursday: Mysore Style Ashtanga 6-9am / All Levels
On Fridays: Ashtanga Led Primary Series 6:45-8:15am Level 2/3
On Sundays: Mysore Style Ashtanga 8.30am – 10.30am / All Levels
“Mysore Style” is traditional Ashtanga yoga, as taught in India by the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois, and now by his grandson Sharath. In this unique class you’ll find people of all levels, practicing a set sequence of postures in a quiet environment. Each student is taught as an individual within the group setting. The extended class length means you can start and finish when it suits you (apart from led practice on Fridays, where the teacher leads the group as a whole).
Although Mysore Style takes a slow approach, it is a thorough system where dedicated students can progress far into the Ashtanga practice. The teacher offers one to one advice and physical adjustments where necessary. New poses are given when the student can easily execute their last pose, and remember the sequence. It is a wonderful way to learn a solo practice.
We highly recommend you take an Intro to Mysore workshop if you are new to this style of class. Alternatively, beginners may start at any time, but we do ask you to make a month’s commitment if this is the case, as it takes a while to get the basics. If you are not sure what it is all about, you are more than welcome to come and observe a class. Please note: this style is particularly suited to anyone who is committed, regardless of physical ability.
PRICES for MYSORE STYLE Monday to Friday (paid in cash directly to the teacher)
£120 (£100 cons) per calendar month for men or £110 (£95 cons) for women (discount for time off during menstruation)
£35 for 1 week
£12.50 for 1 class (for those already familiar with Mysore style)
Sunday class: £7 regular students, or £12.50 drop in

In order to get a feel for the Mysore style learning environment, prospective students are encouraged to come and observe a class before making a commitment.

Susan was introduced to yoga in the late 1970s in Canada, accompanying her mother to hatha yoga classes, and she maintained a home practice off and on over the next twenty years. In 1998 she moved to London and, after fully exploring the wide variety of yoga classes on offer, became committed to an ashtanga Mysore-style practice in the tradition of Sri K Pattabhi Jois. She has since completed the Primary and Intermediate series, and is working through the Advanced A series with her teachers Hamish Hendry in London and R Sharath Jois in Mysore, India.
In 2011 Susan began making regular trips to Mysore to study with Sharath at the Krishna Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute (KPJAYI), and in 2014 she received Level 2 Authorisation, allowing her to teach the full Primary and Intermediate series.
